Minister Han Changfu met with Mr. Askar Myrzakhmetov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, in Beijing on the morning of 31 March 2017.
Minister Han spoke highly of agricultural exchanges and cooperation between China and Kazakhstan and put forward five proposals for further bilateral agricultural cooperation as follows:
First, implementing the Joint Action Plan signed by the two agricultural ministries in 2016 and establishing the Agricultural Cooperation Working Group mechanism between China and Kazakhstan;
Second, strengthening cooperation on agricultural science and technology through establishing joint laboratories led by agricultural research institutes of both countries and promoting visits and exchanges of experts;
Third, boosting agricultural trade and investment cooperation and encouraging two-way investment. China welcomes Kazakh businesses to agricultural expos and trade fairs in China;
Fourth, deepening livestock cooperation and encouraging business cooperation on forage and feed production and livestock trade.
Fifth, facilitating the completion of the China-Kazakhstan Friendship Apple Orchard project undertaken by Shaanxi Province of China and Alma-Ata of Kazakhstan, and establishing the China-Kazakhstan Modern Agriculture Demonstration Park in Kazakhstan.
Mr. Myrzakhmetov fully agreed with Minister Han and said that Kazakhstan is willing to work with China and cement bilateral cooperation in the above-mentioned areas for common agricultural development.
